Digital Car Key

Driven by "intelligentization" and "connectivity," vehicle key is rapidly transitioning from the traditional key era to the digital key era. With a digital vehicle key, users can control the vehicle remotely, check vehicle status, keyless entry and start, share key with friends and families, and other functions. For enterprise users, it enables flexible vehicle access management and real-time monitoring, among other business functions.

 

The digital car key system consists of digital key cloud service, the vehicle end, and the digital vehicle key, as shown in the diagram below:



Digital vehicle keys come in various forms, such as smartphone, smartwatch, Fob Key, NFC card key, etc. Communication between the vehicle end and the key end can be achieved through BLE and NFC. Digital key positioning can be realized via BLE or UWB. Key management, including key activation, vehicle pairing, key sharing, loss reporting, and revocation, is facilitated through the digital key cloud service.

 

While digital keys bring convenience and flexibility to vehicle usage, they also face increasing security risks. In this program, integrating HED SE on key end and vehicle end provides security support for communication connections, identity authentication, data encryption, etc. This helps prevent attacks from both network and local sources, ensuring the safety of users' vehicle usage.

 

Brief introduction of Sloution

 

The digital key system has many vehicle-end programs. This security program is based on an NFC + BLE + UWB architecture. Its structure and deployment are illustrated in the diagram below:



The End of Vehicle Security sloution:

At the vehicle end, the main module of the digital key integrates HED secure SE chip. When establishing a BLE connection between the vehicle end and the key end, secure connection establishment is achieved based on SE services to prevent unauthorized user connections. When accessing the vehicle at the key end, two-way identity authentication is implemented based on the SE to prevent unauthorized user access. A secure session is established based on this authentication to protect data transmission between the vehicle end and the key end, preventing data interception and tampering. Additionally, for UWB positioning functionality, localization keys are dispersed to achieve secure positioning of the vehicle relative to the key end.


The Key End Security sloution:

For phone/smartwatch digital key terminals, HED NFC-eSE chip can be integrated. For Fob Key physical keys, HED SE chip can be integrated. These chips provide security services for BLE secure connections, key identity authentication, UWB secure positioning, and data transmission. They prevent unauthorized device connections and access to vehicles, safeguarding communication security between the key end and the vehicle end. Alternatively, HED NFC cards can be used as card keys.
